Features of the Area
The Town of Goshen is a small incorporated town located in the northwest section of Rockbridge County in the west central section of the State of Virginia, at the confluence of the Calfpasture River and Mill Creek, which converge to the Maury River. Other major watercourses in the Town consist of Bratton’s Run and Cold Sulpher Springs Branch.
The main highways serving the Town are State Primary Routes 39 and 42, with close access to Interstate 64. The Town boundary of Incorporation encompasses approximately two (2) square miles. The topography is such that the main roads were built along rivers and creeks of the Town. The terrain slopes gradually away from these roads to Mill Creek and the Calfpasture River, which drain away from the Town toward the Maury. The secondary roads go up from the main roads into the hills that surround the Town.
